Meet our founder, Zie Mirabel Atanga
I am the Founder and President of UWEA (Underprivileged Women Empowerment Association) a Nonprofit NGO founded in 2013. As a social activist, I combat violence against Women and Girls and create sustainable impact through workshops in ESD Self-Defense Instruction, Sustainable Agriculture Practices, and Economic Empowerment through Small Business Development workshops. I am a certified Women's Level 2 Self-defense Instructor for Cameroon and hold a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. I am passionate about social change and believe in enabling people to define and stand up for their beliefs and advocating for human rights while bridging connections across cultural, political, and religious differences through interpersonal communication and building community relationships. I actively advocate for the women and girls in my community to know their rights and how to defend themselves. Our mission is to empower underprivileged women and children against violence, and reduce the feminization of poverty and gender bias.
Objectives
